Berlin, Jan 10, IRNA -- German Defense Minister Peter Struck on
Saturday spoke out in favor of a US-EU security dialogue, adding
that Washington was "overcharged" with providing for global
security, DPA reported.
A "sense of reality" for the existing potentials on both sides of
the Atlantic is necessary, Struck said cited by DPA, calling for a
transatlantic strategic dialogue over the fundamentals of common
security.

The German minister said a "new EU security strategy" would be
an important step towards an independent European contribution for
securing peace.
The 6th International Bertelsmann conference titled "Europe:
Embarking on a new Era" kicked off in Berlin Friday. Some 60 top
politicians and personalities from around the world gathered for
talks on the EU`s most important agenda issues.
